| Phororhacos Skull - A phororhacos, or sword beak, was a 6-foot tall, flightless bird having small, wings and very large hind legs, that lived during the Miocene period. This extinct bird was a meat eater, and ran down its prey, often reaching great speeds across flat ground. The phororhacos had a large curved beak that could easily trap prey, and snap through flesh and bone. |
