| Black-backed Jackal Skull - The black-backed jackal is native to two separate regions of Africa; southern Africa and the east African coast. This medium-sized dog is a carnivore, primarily scavenging carrion and feeding on insects, but occasionally preying on small vertebrates including domestic foul, lambs, hares and small antelope. Jackals, like most wild Canid species, are gregarious and social and will establish pack hierarchies. |
