Common Murre Skull

Common Murre Skull - The common murre is native to the Northern Atlantic as well as much of the North American Pacific coast. Apart from the breeding season, this pelagic species spends much of its life at sea. The common murre nests in large colonies on rocky offshore islands and cliffs in association with other bird species such as puffins, guillemots, kittiwakes, gulls, and razorbills. The common murre is predominately a piscivore, but will feed on mollusk, squid and other aquatic invertebrates.
