| Marabou Stork Skull - The marabou stork is native to much of Africa south of the Sahara. This large stork has a wingspan of 10 feet (3 meters) but spends much of its time on the ground foraging for food. Marabous feed primarily on carrion and small vertebrates. As an adaptation for feeding on messy carrion, this species, like vultures, has a bald head. This feature helps to prevent the fouling of feathers and bacterial build-up.
