Matamata Skull - The Matamata, a strange and unique turtle is native to shallow black-water streams and stagnant lakes of tropical Amazonia. Its flattened head and wide rough carapace help this turtle to blend in with its muddy habitat. The Matamata can lie submerged motionless for hours waiting for prey, which consists of small fish and aquatic invertebrates.
