Growing Pains
Skulls Unlimited continues to grow with the upcoming addition of a new fire resistant, explosion safe degreasing room. This 228 sq foot addition will allow for the much needed expansion of our chemical degreasing process as well as increasing the safety of our operations. Manufactured by a professional company that specializes in fire safe chemical storage units, this room has it all, from special fire suppression and ventilation systems to hazardous spill containment and explosion proof equipment. In addition to expanding our chemical processing area, we will also be renovating an additional room for our dermestids. This will allow for two completely separate beetle colonies, thus expanding and maximizing our cleaning production.

Common Murre Skull
The common murre is native to the Northern Atlantic as well as much of the North American Pacific coast. Apart from the breeding season, this pelagic species spends much of its life at sea. The common murre nests in large colonies on rocky offshore islands and cliffs in association with other bird species such as puffins, guillemots, kittiwakes, gulls, and razorbills. The common murre is predominately a piscivore, but will feed on mollusk, squid and other aquatic invertebrates.

California Gull Skull
The California gull, a medium-sized gull native to the North American Pacific coast, is slightly smaller than the Herring Gull, but very similar in appearance. This species possesses a bright yellow bill with a red spot and yellow legs. The California gull's diet consists of insects, carrion, aquatic invertebrates, earthworms, young birds, fish and rodents.

Black Skimmer Skull
The skimmer, named for its low flying foraging technique, can be found along the North American Atlantic, Pacific and Gulf coasts as well as a large region of South America. This species uses its laterally compressed mandible to slice through the water while it skims the surface searching for prey. Skimmers feed on various species of small fish including anchovies, silversides and killifish.
