Ostrich Foot

Ostrich Foot. The ostrich is the worlds largest bird. This flightless ratite uses its powerful legs to reach speeds in excess of 40 mph (70km/h). There are few predators that can successfully prey on the ostrich. It's clawed toes act as a slashing defense when threatened. It has been recorded that a single kick from an adult ostrich can kill an African lion. Today, the ostrich is farmed World Wide for its meat, feathers and oil. View Other Bird Specimens
