The only member of this family is the springhare found throughout southern Africa. These small scrub land animals live in burrows and are nocturnal. Their legs are long and powerful and can be utilized to leap like a kangaroo. These leaps may measure up to three meters. All Pedetidae belong to the Rodentia.
