Doves & Pigeons
The family Columbidae includes over 300 species of pigeons and doves. This family occurs worldwide, but the greatest variety is in the Indomalaya and Australasia ecozones. Pigeons and doves are stout-bodied birds with short necks, and have short slender bills. The species most commonly encountered by humans is the feral rock dove, or pigeon.
