The family Orycteropodidae includes a single member: the aardvark. Sometimes called "antbear" or "Cape anteater" due to its exclusive diet of ants and termites, this hog-sized burrowing mammal is native to Africa. Belonging to the order Tubulidentata, the teeth of the aardvark are unique among mammals. Instead of having a pulp cavity surrounded by enamel, each tooth has a cluster of thin, upright, parallel tubes.
