Ocean Sunfish

Mola mola

The ocean sunfish, or commonly called the mola, with an average adult weight of 2,200 lb, is the heaviest known bony fish in the world. Sunfish are uniquely shaped and resemble a fish head with a tail. Its main body is flattened laterally and can be as tall as they are long when their dorsal and ventral fins are extended. The species is native to tropical and temperate waters around the globe and feeds mainly of jellyfish.
