It is one of the largest lizard species in Africa, capable of reaching lengths of up to 7 feet, with a powerful, muscular build and strong limbs. Nile monitors are opportunistic carnivores, feeding on a diverse diet that includes fish, birds, eggs, small mammals, insects, and carrion.
