The common water monitor is widespread throughout most of Asia and the surrounding islands. Their bodies are long, bulky, and covered with thick black or dark brown scales. Adult water monitors can get quite large. Their weight can range anywhere from around 40 to 110 pounds, second only to their cousin the Komodo dragon.
