The Four-toed Elephant Shrew (Petrodromus tetradactylus) is a small mammal found in Central and East Africa. They are named for their four-toed hind legs and their long elephant-like snouts, which enable them to find termites and ants within the dense forests of Africa. They are diurnal, meaning they are primarily active during the daytime. Elephant shrews are not particularly social but many live in monogamous pairs.
