The fibula is the thinner of the two long bones in the lower leg, running parallel to the tibia. While it bears minimal weight, it provides stability and support for the ankle and serves as an attachment point for muscles. The fibula also helps distribute forces during movement and plays a role in maintaining balance and coordination.
