The Alpine ibex is also known as steinbock or bouquetin. This species of wild goat lives in the mountains of the European Alps. Alpine ibex tend to live in steep, rough terrain near the snow line. The males have large recurved horns with sometimes a ridged front. The coat color is typically brownish grey. The ibex is the emblem of both the Gran Paradiso National Park and the Vanoise National Park.
