The nocturnal and elusive lynx can be found throughout northernmost North America. Their counterparts, the Eurasian lynx and the Iberian lynx can be found in parts of Europe. These animals are distinguished by their short tails, broad heads, tufts of black hair on the tips of their ears, and large padded paws for walking on snow. Lynx tend to be solitary and silent, except during mating season.
