Real Marten Skull - Pathology

The American marten is a small, agile mammal that is well-adapted to life in the forest. These curious creatures are known for their playful nature and are often seen exploring their surroundings in search of food and shelter.  They are typically about 18-24 inches in length and weigh between 1-3 pounds. American martens are omnivorous and will eat a variety of foods, including fruits, berries, insects, small mammals, and birds. They have sharp, curved claws on their front feet, which they use for climbing trees and catching prey. These claws are retractable, which allows the marten to move quickly and efficiently through the forest.
