Details
The roan antelope is a large bovid species found throughout woodlands and savannas of central and southern Africa. One of the largest antelope on the continent, males of this species can weigh up to 660 pounds (300 kg). Both male and female roan antelope grow ringed horns that arch backward, but the males' are longer on average. Males of this species are highly territorial, fighting any other males they encounter within 500 miles of their herd.
