Details
The southern flying squirrel is one of three species in the Glaucomys genus and one of three species in North America that is a flying squirrel. The southern flying squirrel does not actually fly but glides using a membrane that is connected from its front to its back. The membrane is called patagium, and they use this to go from treetop to treetop. They are nocturnal animals only hunting for fruit and nuts at night.
