Steer, cattle, and cow are all the same and are the most common type of large domesticated ungulates. Cattle are raised for food, milk, and leather all over the world. There is an estimate that there are 1.4 billion cattle in the world. Cattle were used as currency as early as 9000BC and the more you had the wealthier you were. That was the unit of measure to see how wealthy someone was, which lead to cattle raiding the earliest form of theft.
