The lightning-fast tokay is one of the largest members of the gecko family. These large nocturnal lizards are known for their incredibly strong grip and ability to adhere themselves to vertical surfaces. The tokay has a valuable defense mechanism. When threatened, the tokay can cast off its long tail in several pieces. The broken off pieces will then shake violently for minutes, allowing the tokay enough time to escape. Their tails will regenerate within a few weeks.
