The Yellow-bellied Slider (Trachemys scripta scripta) is a freshwater turtle native to the southeastern United States. Known for its distinct yellow plastron (the underside of its shell) and the yellow stripes on its legs, neck, and head, this turtle is commonly found in slow-moving rivers, ponds, and swamps. Yellow-bellied Sliders are omnivorous, feeding on a diet that includes aquatic vegetation, insects, and small fish. They are also popular as pets due to their hardy nature and relatively easy care requirements, though they require ample space and proper environmental conditions to thrive in captivity.
