Waterbucks are large antelope found throughout Africa, particularly in grassy savanna habitats near rivers, streams and lakes. They have a distinct coat coloration, with a white belly and a grayish-brown back. Males have long, curved horns and females lack horns. Waterbucks are grazers and feed on a variety of grasses and aquatic plants. They are generally solitary animals, but can form small herds during the dry season. Waterbucks are known for their strong swimming ability and can often be seen crossing rivers and streams. They are also very alert and wary of predators, making loud snorting noises when disturbed.
