The steenbok is a small antelope native to southern and eastern Africa, often found in open savannas, grasslands, and semi-arid regions. Standing about 16–24 inches tall at the shoulder, it has a slender build, reddish-brown coat, and large ears that aid in detecting predators. Steenboks are typically solitary and feed on grasses, leaves, and shoots, relying on vegetation for most of their water needs.
