The Eastern woodrat is a medium-sized rodent found in the central and eastern United States. It is known for building large, complex nests out of sticks, leaves, and other debris, often referred to as "middens." Eastern woodrats are primarily nocturnal and have a varied diet that includes seeds, fruits, nuts, and occasionally small invertebrates.
