The Hungarian partridge – affectionately known by hunters as “huns” – is a medium-sized bird in the pheasant family. They have plump torsos and curved bills, as well as grayish-brown feathers that provide them with camouflage to blend into their surroundings. They are not strong flyers, so they prefer walking or running over flying and they do not migrate in the winter. They also forage for food and build their nests on the ground.
