This disarticulated opossum skeleton offers an authentic look at the anatomy of North America's only marsupial. The specimen includes a complete skull with all teeth intact, though some molars show natural discoloration. The spine is loosely strung for easy study, and several foot bones are naturally fused. Ideal for educational displays, comparative anatomy, or natural history collections.
The opossum is a marsupial and a member of the Didelphidae family. Opossums are generally solitary and nomadic, staying in one area if food and water resources are plentiful. They have a very interesting defence when they feel threatened, playing dead and mimicking the appearance and smell of a dying or dead animal. Their diet consists mostly of carrion, rodents, birds, and insects, but opossums will famously eat almost anything.
