The pocket gopher or just gopher is part of the Geomyidae family. Gophers are known for their extensive tunneling and destroying gardens and farmland. They create networks of tunnels providing protection, means of transport, and collecting food. The gopher feeds on plant roots, shrubs, carrots, lettuce and other vegetables with juice. The young are born blind and helpless then weaned around 40 days old.
