The Domestic Goose is a domesticated form of the Greylag Goose that has been bred by humans for thousands of years for meat, eggs, feathers, and companionship. Found worldwide in agricultural and domestic settings, domestic geese exhibit a wide variety of sizes, colors, and body forms depending on breed. They are highly social, intelligent birds known for their strong flocking instincts and vocal nature. Despite domestication, they retain many characteristics of their wild ancestors, including powerful wings, webbed feet, and an aptitude for grazing. Domestic geese have played an important role in human agriculture and culture and remain among the most recognizable domesticated waterfowl species.
