The Mexican beaded lizard is a large, venomous lizard native to Mexico and parts of Central America, closely related to the Gila monster. It has a stout body covered in bead-like scales, typically black with yellow or cream markings, giving it a striking, textured appearance. Slow-moving and reclusive, it uses its venom—delivered through grooves in its lower teeth—to subdue prey such as eggs, small mammals, and birds. Despite its fearsome reputation, it is generally docile and poses little threat to humans.
