Bandicoots are solitary, nocturnal marsupials. During the day, these animals usually stay in their nests, which are shallow holes in the ground that are lined with grasses and other plant material. The long-nosed bandicoot is indigenous to the rain forests as well as wet and dry woodlands of the east coast of Australia.
