This specimen, believed to be that of a Roman gladiator, is dated from between 72 AD and 472 AD and was unearthed near the Coliseum in Rome, Italy. This specimen is a particularly large male aged at approximately 30 years old. This skull exhibits unusual characteristics such as brachycephalic structure and exaggerated occiputs. Also visible on this specimen is a healed head trauma, possibly the result of arena combat.
