The Smilodon, an extinct species of saber-toothed tiger, was a formidable predator that roamed the Americas during the Pleistocene epoch. It is known for its iconic long, curved canine teeth that could grow up to 11 inches in length. With a robust build and a weight estimated at around 440 to 600 pounds, Smilodon populator likely hunted large herbivores such as bison and horses, using its powerful forelimbs and retractable claws to immobilize and take down its prey.
