Last recorded in 1768, this now-extinct species was once found in the northern Pacific and Arctic oceans. A relative of the dugong and manatee, the Steller's sea cow was much larger than any extant sirenian, reaching a length of nearly 8 meters (25 feet). This specimen was cast from an original, courtesy of the University of California, Berkley.
