The rattlesnake is a venomous species native to North and South America. Their venom is hemotoxic, meaning that it can destroy tissue and cause necrosis and coagulopathy. The rattlesnake gets its name from the rattle that grows from the end of its tail. They use this rattle to warn that they are about to strike. Rattlesnakes are carnivorous, mainly eating small animals such as rodents and birds.
