Avimimus was a small, bird-like theropod dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, around 85 to 70 million years ago, in what is now Mongolia. Its name means “bird mimic,” reflecting its avian features, including a lightly built body, long legs, a toothless beak, and likely feathers. Avimimus was likely fast and agile, possibly omnivorous, and some fossils suggest it may have lived in groups.
