Details
Probably the largest, most complete Sabertooth Cat found in the tar-pits in Los Angeles. This individual is remarkable in that it has its septum intact and has virtually no reconstruction. The sabers (over 10 inches long) are complete and removable. The jaw, as well as the sabers, were found associated with the skull. The molding and casting process captured the nasal cavity, with its septum as well as the cavities where the sabers go. Found in the 1930s across the street from the La Brea Tar Pits. The site was immediately closed and is now under a bank building.

The skull was in perfect condition when it arrived. Ā The quality is great and it looks fairly realistic. Ā It was a Christmas gift for my husband so the only bad thing is it was on back order so it came the week after Christmas. Ā He still loved it though! Ā
The detail is very good ,no regrets.the details of there casting process ,I would like to know more about.there are no seems, ect very exceptional.I will buy more.
Karl, Thank you for your lovely words. We so appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and look forward to serving you in the future!
I have loved using this with my 9-10th grade Biology classes. We look at it in comparison to a Replica Bengal Tiger skull, a Bobcat skull, and a Sea Otter skull (I got them all from Skulls Unlimited). We use the hands on tactile tools to see evolutionary changes in musculature and bones. The kids are able to see real connections to the textbook content.
This is a remarkably realistic replica, and it looks great on the mounting stand.
I saw much less expensive versions of these elsewhere, but the quality was subpar.... copy of a copy of a copy.... is the best I can describe them. The skills unlimited version looks awesome. Amazing attention to detail. No regrets
